Irrespective of how you heat your home, it is important to book in for scheduled maintenance to keep the system running efficiently and in a cost-effective manner. Heat pumps have fewer moving parts, which makes them cheaper to maintain than a traditional central heating system. Mobile Services recommends annual heat pump servicing for air-source and ground-source models to keep them in their best condition.
Your heat pump installation in Southampton, Winchester or Hampshire will rarely require any maintenance outside of the annual service and, with due care provided, you can expect your system to run for anywhere between 20 and 30 years.
Mobile Services can undertake heat pump servicing on our own installations or on those fitted by other companies. If we provided the original installation, our company would notify you to let you know your first (and subsequent) annual checks are due. Leaks – Expect some condensation but if there is an excess amount of water or signs of a clear leak, it indicates that there is a problem with either the pump or the system.
Airflow – Our technicians leave clearance space around heat pump installations for a reason. Always keep this space clear and never attempt to put a cover over a heat pump.
Filters – One of the key aspects of heat pump servicing is changing the filter but it is a good idea to keep an eye out for contaminants all year and to remove them if possible.
Freezing – Keep a close eye on your heat pump during the cold winter months, removing snow or ice build-up because this will affect the efficiency and the performance of the installation.
If your heat pump isn’t working as it should or displays a fault light, you can try pressing the reset button. This will clear minor issues. Keep an eye on the pressure gauge too. Most systems run at about 1.5 bar but check the operations and maintenance manual before topping up the pressure.
More significant faults, like leaks, compressor failure, blocked filters and pressure alarm issues will need the attention of a heat pump servicing and repair specialist.
